That was interesting! I thought that the TGUs would be my rest, but my quads were on fire every time I had to get all the way up. Phew! Turns out the 400M were my rest, and box jumps were nothing nice after the runs.
Today, I went light on the weight and attempted to get >20min. I went with 35/15 wrapping it up with 22:20.
Mauro, Nice call with the MGU (Maurish Get Ups) but you did not tell me Queen had not authorized that mod. She basically ripped my head off for doing them. I am already intimidated enough wodding on Monday and Tuesday when she is there. Queen, just add P-Nut about my TGU – she is surely still having nightmares about them. And Vegas, I was thrilled not to have to see K1………
Happy Birthday And1! Thanks for being a great coach, hope you have an awesome day!
Yoga with Marlea was AMAZING yesterday, In just a few weeks, I feel so much more flexible, less sore and honestly, its a really fun class. I never thought I’d look forward to a yoga class, thanks P. Lea!
I fully intended to rooster it this am, but my snooze button and ultra comfy bed tag teamed me and they won. TS 5:30, looks like a really fun wod, TGUs are always a fun challenge, love it.
Awesome job TS AM crew!! Big rooster group then 7:30 with Duck and Joey Tats. Duck flew through this and Joey, way to push yourself with minimal rest! Last Monday WOD at TS for Joey Tats (for now), we will miss seeing you but I’m glad you’ll still be apart of the CFHC family, come visit often and we hope you’re back soon, keep us posted on how you’re doing!
8:30 great job! Nice to meet some of the newer members. Saw a lot of great form on the snatches and TGU’s, and nice seeing everyone go lighter and picking up the intensity!
Tough one this morning at TS 8:30! Round 3 was tough, but Round 4 made me want to assume the fetal position in a quiet corner. I chose 55/25, time was 21:56. Duck, I made the 22 minute mark, but only by a hair. The only rest was at the top of the box jumps for a split second. Great job to Roundy, Todd, and Kim for WODing hard today. Ciao!
Blog iS downright lame! Even the birthday posts suck! What am iSupposed to do all day iF the blog iS quiet?!?! iCan only jerk off so many times ya know!!
I’d like to talk about how awesome the TG peeps are!! It has been such a pleasure teaching you guys yoga. iPod and Tardy you two are great people. I’m so glad to have meet you. And I look forward to getting to know you better. Hollyhood my daughter is still talking about you. You made quite an impression. It was so nice to meet each one of you and look forward to seeing you again.
We had a great class at TS on Sunday. Each one of you is making great progress. CSI you are so focused. Decay and Karen are so consistent. Connie you were missed this week.
Hoping to wod this afternoon. Alot of the movements I love.
absolutely exhausted from this weekend! Super spartan on Saturday and Beast Mode Battle Sunday. My body is screaming at me to take a rest day but it is so hard to stay away. Love this WOD!
I’ll blog more, because really what is this blog other than me talking to myself, Chewie complaining about the lack of activity, and iPod sharing things that no one ever should?
So, lately I’ve been pushing myself hard on heavy WODs, but on the more cardio oriented running/box jumping type WODs I’ve just been accepting that I’ve gained weight and will go slow. I’ve been running really damn slow (2:30+ 400s), and my intensity has been just unacceptable. And while I know that having gained weight and not hit JVIC’s class like I used to, some slow down will occur, but I think my attitude was letting it be bigger than it should.
Today, I told myself I was going to try harder. And I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I wasn’t 20 like the Pickle. Or 22s like Hero and Lisa. But I think I did well. And it’s the first time in maybe 6 months that I think I did well on a more cardio oriented WOD.
And on a completely unrelated note….
Last week there was a lot of talk about Max Efforts and why they are important and why people shouldn’t skip them, etc. Well, I thought I’d share a little something. My entire life I have been the weakest guy in my group. I played high school sports..basketball, football…but I didn’t hit the gym. And I am naturally weak for a guy. The very very few times I tried to get into lifting, I never got myself up to even a 135# bench press. The first time I did a max effort here, I was paired with K1 and it was shoulder press (strict/push/jerk) and I think she out lifted me. I was kind of embarrassed and shy about my lack of strength. I was tempted to skip on ME days. At the time, my goal was weight loss, not strength. I had no reason to go to these silly ME days anyway. But frankly, more afraid of embarrassment, I was afraid of Turbo calling me out for cherry picking. I showed up. First DL max effort day I pulled 215. First power clean max effort day I hit 130. These were toward the bottom of the groups I was in. But I’m glad I did it. Because now, my numbers aren’t so bad. For the first time in my life, I don’t consider myself weak. In some circles, I think I’m pretty strong. And that feels pretty damn good.
Anyway, I know people skip ME days for different reasons, but if you’re doing it because you’re not strong…come. Stick with the program. Get your baseline numbers. And enjoy watching them go up.
Vegas is spot on here. I’m also a person who used to think about cherry picking when I saw a ME day, but I’ve gotten over that and glad I did. On ME days you are competing with nobody but yourself. Everyone who PRs get s a star next to their name — even if they lifted less than everyone else in the room.
Nice work Lisa! I feel your pain… the fetal position still sounds tempting 8 hours later. Fun WOD to get the week started. Thanks Bali, great coaching as always!!
Vegas, I love your post. Sporty, same.
Peeps… whay are you here? Why do you do CrossFit? To compete with other peeps, or to better yourself?
I dunno, just thought I’d throw that question out there. Just my two cents, but I know, for myself, when it’s a Max Effort day, I don’t compare my numbers to anyone else’s. There’s always someone else out there with a “bigger number”. Who cares! It’s about measuring your OWN growth and working on your weaknesses, trying to get better, and cheering and supporting others while they strive to do the same.
Last thing real quick: Wednesday some of us are going for a 1RM Snatch. Jordan, Kiel, Evan, they all have bigger #s than me. And that’s fine. For me, I have a goal that I want to hit, and I couldn’t give a good damn what anyone else hits that day, I want MY goal, and that’s it. If I have the lowest number of all the dudes, so what. To me, it’s never been about beating you or whatever, it’s about me doing the best I can. If you kick my ass, fantastic, good on ya. I just wanna keep getting better, that’s all.
There ya go iPod, I posted, lol.
Diesel: Do you hear the Jaws theme too? I thought it was all in my head. Except unlike you, I don’t pretend I am mermaid.
Ipod: You sound like Kurt Cobain on a rainy day! How about considering the shape of your wood to make custom wooden flutes?, Or a .GIF of you jumping rope to livin up the mood.
All we want to is… all we want to do is dance.
And on a completely unrelated note….Vegas, you red hot chili leper, everytime I see those Lay’s Chicken & Waffle potato chips I think of how your fingers smell like honeycombs.
Happy Birthday And 1 and Sprinkles !!! 25:? for me today…. 75 and 25lb TS 430 was packed and fun…. Great coaching by Joker… Good job Jeff for completing your first WOD !
18n change 65lb…don’t let the time fool ya though…used small box to ensure unbroken box jumps and work on firing off the floor…fast box jumps are one of my goats…65lb hps felt “snappy” under control…getting faster
This Wod drubbed me up and down TS. Movements that not only do I dislike, but that I am not very efficient at. And those are the two pertinent reasons I Wodded. 26:09Rx of humble pie. The 4:30 peeps were great. T1000 killed it, CK too. Dave gutted it out. Nice work Stationers.
22:30RX box jumps always kill me for some reason! So simple but they always get me. My 3rd run wasn’t very good 1:45ish looks like I need to take a trip to jvic’s ewod tomorrow morning!
26:34 #45/15 for me today..I missed an entire week of wods due to a stomach virus and between the wod on Saturday and today, I am totally drained! I’m just glad I didn’t trip over that damn box! Good vibe today at the station 4:30… Saw a lot of 8:30 regulars! I
I do wish more locker room members would chime in. I feel like I’m talking to myself most of the time. Wait. I am talking to myself.
Anyway, happy birthday to Sprinkles and And 1. Don’t know ya but have a great birthday.
Now, to the WOD. What was I thinking???Tgu! Thinking only 3 on each side. Shouldn’t be too bad, right? It knocked me on my ass. Run, no prob. 20″ box jumps, no prob. 55# snatches, not bad.
TGU: 25#, BAD, very BAD, HUGE PROBLEM. Took me 35 minutes but Locker kept me motivated and pushed me to get through those evil TGUs.
Those are definitely worse than burpees. WAY WORSE!
Tough but great WOD! TGUs are so good mentally, but definitely slow down a WOD! 33:51 with 60# snatches and 15# TGUS. Great coaching Brian!! Nice work TC/5:30 WODers….way to push!!
Early post! Love it! Am I first up in this joint?
i1st!
Early look at tomorrow’s WOD…giving us time to let iT sink iN…iT’s gonna be brutal!
Well alright then!! TS Rooster session it is!
My damn knee is still banged up from the last TGU’s. See everyone at TS rooster WOD.

First crew came through and busted hump!!!
TS Rooster crew kept moving, lots of sweat and intensity! Great job guys!
Pickles can fly, wow.
I was pickles + 4 minutes, or 23:58rx. Nice full house at TG under the Queens rule. Missed k1, you better be back tomorrow.
That was interesting! I thought that the TGUs would be my rest, but my quads were on fire every time I had to get all the way up. Phew! Turns out the 400M were my rest, and box jumps were nothing nice after the runs.

Mauro – No one ever has any idea what Diesel is talking about.
Diesel, It wasn’t that bad buddy. but, I knew if you posted today my name would show up in your post. lol

Made my bi-weekly visit to the Locker Room. Always a good time!! 21:57 with 65#/24″/25#. The end.
Correction….20″ box jump. Should have just said womens RX!
Hey Lance! Has anyone ever told you that your arms are bigger than your legs?
Love you all and miss you much!
On the positive side my breathing feels better on wods like these but that doesn’t mean I’m any faster. 30:58 with 55#/15#.
Logan!!!! Miss ya back bud!!!!
