GREAT JOB EVERYONE…..AWESOME ATMOSPHERE,INCREDIBLE BOX………TURBO
“In honor of USAF SSgt Timothy P. Davis, 28, who was killed on Feburary, 20 2009 supporting operations in OEF when his vehicle was struck by an IED. Timothy is survived by his wife Megan and one-year old son T.J.”
I will definitely take on D.T. with heavier weight soon. Paris and I battled it out with light weight since we are doing 13.2 tonight, but it was still very hard since we both vowed not to put the bar down at all (which we didn’t), my girl beat me by one second 4:17 55#
Nice work to Vegas, CK and Chips all getting over 200 on 13.2 this morning! It looked nothing short of absolutely brutal. Great job guys!
Did Oly class last night with Chewie. Great class with about 16 participating. My 9 yr old some came for the first time, was reluctant until we entered the HQ. The energy in that place is amazing. We stuck to the program and weights that Chewie advised, had an awesome workout, and are getting more technical with our lifts. My son was so amped after the class, he found the USAPL website and is bumbed he has to wait until 14 to compete. Thanks Chewie and Lance for the time and motivation.
Last night WAS fun! I know I certainly had a blast with it. 1st if all, the kid took to it like a duck to water. He got so much better in the span of just an hour or so. I think he probably had more lifts than anyone in there lol. Awesome.
And truthfully, EVERYONE improved last night. Weather it was in the dip, the 2nd pull on the clean, the split, everyone improved. And I believe a few of you may have even PR’d. Mr T, I know you did, congrats. But even without a PR, it was totally exciting seeing you guys “get” something. It’s actually cooler than when I “get” something! Lol.
Anyway, great class, fun time. I love seeing people get better!
Vegas (204) and CK (217) set the bar high this morning at TS. I went right after them and ended at 210. I was very pleased with my results. My tip is just don’t stop!
I then did the DT WOD at 730 using 115. Under the cap at 10:55.
Thanks Pong, CSi, Paris, Vegas and CK for pushing me during 13.2 and the WOD!
So I’m getting reports from friends in other boxes that people are crushing 13.2 with scores in the mid to high 200s and mediocre cardio by stepping up, rather than jumping up.
boy lunch detention sure is growing! great wod today. serious work put in from last night into today. was hoping to do mondays wod to work my endurance but pong said stick with todays, so i did. 4:36 95# , then afterwards did mondays unbroken, barely a minute of rest, worked an okay pace w the 800′s
last night was great at HQ. chewie worked a great oly lift session. so awesome to see Mr.T and his son there. inspired me to come down to HQ on thursday nights once and a while
some of us took on 13.2 . austin set the bar right off the bat and the rest followed suit. i ended up with 276. like chips said, JUST DONT STOP. ill be at TS sunday to go for 300.
Did the 13.2 this morning at Ranger Crossfit in McAllen, TX a got 195. Those box jumps were the pits but managed. The owner/coach Miguel kept me going the entire time and wouldn’t let me rest. The people were great while we were there.
Valentine did the WOD with her sister while I did 13.2. The warmup was: 50 KTEs, 50 PVC pass through,, and 50 SDLH with kettle bells. Then it was a 10 EMOM 3 OHS at 85/65 as a skill and then it was a 3 RFT with 20 OHS 95/65, 15 HSPUS’ or 15 Hand-release push ups, and then 5 over the bar burpees.
The Box was great an they’re looking forward to us coming back.
“The athlete will start with two feet on the ground and come to a standing position with knees and hips locked out on top of the box. Two-foot jumps, one-foot jumps and step-ups are all permitted.
Every rep counts in this workout. Credit will be given for partially completed rounds.”
Don’t know if I like that steps-up are permitted, since that eliminates it being a box jump, more of a lunge….but may go that route to save energy…don’t know if it will be faster…would be nice to hear some results using that method……Going to do WOD tomorrow morning.
The Natural man, you are killing it. I will see you Sunday to chase down 300 with you.
As for the step downs, I am all for it. Box Jumps are a bear on the achilles and knees. If you’re not looking for a spot on Regionals, I say step down. If you want to check out my thoughts on this, you can check my practice blog.
All I’m sayin is, if it’s good enough for Julie Foucher, as an ELITE crossfitter and future Medical Doctor, it’s good enough for me.
Knee is getting better, but forced me to have to start stepping down after the third round or so. Stepping down is by far the slower method, the energy you save doesn’t make up for the amount of time you lose versus rebounding from the floor.
Custom leader board feature on the games site is working and it’s really cool. I made one for all the Hardcore boxes and we have it appears we have a total of 214 athletes. WOW!!!
Hardcore Rocks!
iDid 13.2 again today…first time iGot 189reps(6rds+9) doing all box jumps up & down. Second time today doing all step downs & 5 step ups to start round 6 and 10 step ups to start round 7…iGot 219reps(7+9). The step downs helped alot on the ankles & knees, and since iCan’t rebound very well, especially when gassed, that made a huge difference throughout the WOD. The step ups iN round 6 & 7 allowed me to keep moving rather then resting as iCould not plyo jump at that point & would have had to rest till iFelt ready to jump again. iT definitely helped me get the extra 30reps because iDidn’t have to rest hardly at all & could keep moving. iAgree that the step ups change the exercise from a plyometric to a whatever, and takes much less energy, iT is also slower, and they are not easy…my quads were on fire when iDid step ups, but iT iS a completely different exercise…but the rules/standards are what they are & should be utilized to the athletes advantage iF needed. Doing step downs &/or step ups will not afford the ability to get “regional” quality scores for 99% of the athletes. Bottom line for WOD 13.2 iS that iT Is a box jump WOD…about 60-70% of the time & energy iS the box jumps…do those well/fast & you will score better, the S2OH & the DL’s are the rest. Have fun!
So, after my afternoon long debate about doing stepups and downs vs jumps, given my terrible box record, i decided to take the advice of Hardcore’s FB post and think about my abilities and treat it like a run. Long story short i warmed up a few box jumps and realized i could step up faster. Ego was left in the parking lot as i felt a lil weak sauce doing step ups, but it worked. Counted on 180, hoped to break 200, got 227, soooo happy!
Everyone at TS tonight killed it, Pegleg and Gator both over 230, Paris with a 248!!!! Thats my girl!! Chaos improved his score by over 20 reps, Big Cat pulled out a 240…great night!
Thanks to Chewie for staying late so we could do our wods and thank you so much Austin for strategizing for me and full out demanding i pick up the bar after i failed on my very last push jerk, you are relentless and its awesome!
We have quite the amazing family at Hardcore, but i dont need to tell anyone here that . Thanks for the support everyone, very happy tonight!
First…TLR
Rough stuff!
I agree…rough…under 15 min?

From CrossFit Mainsite:
“In honor of USAF SSgt Timothy P. Davis, 28, who was killed on Feburary, 20 2009 supporting operations in OEF when his vehicle was struck by an IED. Timothy is survived by his wife Megan and one-year old son T.J.”
It’s a Hero wod. So wod hard!
Love this WOD but did 13.2. 204 reps. Ck 217. Chips 210. Thanks Paris and Pong for judging.
Small rooster class at TG. 8:30something with 75#
13.2 with JMO and TK.
BP – 169; TK – 191; JMO – 207 (i think)
This one was a burner! Everyone have fun with it!

Great WOD today. 105 in 11-something. Don’t think I could have done 125 in under 15. Thanks Pong for keeping the bars flying.

Any Hardcore folks have thoughts on this?

The Box was great an they’re looking forward to us coming back.
Very interested in hearing people’s thoughts on Vegas’s comment re: step up/step down vs. jump up/step down, especially for us non-elite athletes.
The Games site says the following:
“The athlete will start with two feet on the ground and come to a standing position with knees and hips locked out on top of the box. Two-foot jumps, one-foot jumps and step-ups are all permitted.
